Brushes you need part two !

Soo im sure many of you wear blush?? I love how it brightens up your complexion and gives you a nice glow!
But you better be using a BLUSH BRUSH to apply it !! Like this one from Sephora ,i actually got it in a kit with Bare Essentials mineral makeup and its just the right size to blend perfectly!Retails for $15.00 but remember as long as u take care of it will last a long long time!

How do you use apply powder blush with this brush?Powder is typically best for oily & combo skin.
Always start with a little ,you can add more later if needed! The key is blending it to make it look natural!!
Go look in the mirror and smile ,start there and apply up to your hairline!I will try to make a video on my technique soon!!You can also use your fingers to blend it a bit more too!
If you add to much use some translucent powder to make it look lighter. Also choose a shade that compliments you most people can pull off a nice peach tone or light pink.Check my earlier posts about Clear Radiance blush from Bare Minerals.

Also important is a POWDER BRUSH ,those puff things that come with most powder are just terrible!
Get one like this from Quo at Shoppers Drugmart ,i like them big and fluffy!Retails $22.00 but you can cash in your points and they always have sales ladies!!

Powder is the last step in your makeup routine ,it sets everything and gives you a smooth finish and the proper brush does the job best.Make sure to tap the brush to get off excess powder before applying.Use small circular motions to cover well. Also apply powder all over the face, neck and decollete.

More brushes to come in my next post :)

The brushes you should own and how to use them!

To make your makeup look its best you NEED good brushes!! Its like if your an athlete and you play football you need a good helmet,or if your a baker and they get a crappy ass mixer, well then your cupcakes just are not up to par ahha yah you get the point ahahaha
Your makeup will look sooo much better ,its a good investment too because if you take care of them they will last you years and years!!

Before i even go over what brushes you need ,i want to tell you that you also need to clean these brushes!Soo what  do you use to do that ? Well i will let you know that too don't worry ehhee
M.A.C makeup brush cleanser,. Disinfects and conditions the bristles while removing excess residue at the same time.$11.00 Its a good choice and not super pricey and lasts a long time.

If you want a cheap alternate to store bought brush cleaner you can use shampoo ,or even dish soap will work to get the makeup off. Some people even use vinegar mixed with water to disinfect or rubbing alcohol will also kill all germs. So basically wash with shampoo then spray with alcohol and they are clean.
Also you can put a little bit of spray on conditioner to help keep the bristles soft.

Okay so now you know how to clean them ,soo here is the first brush you should get ,a FOUNDATION BRUSH!!

What is the purpose of it? Well if you use foundation it helps it to go on smoothly and cover all areas equally. Also it soaks up less of the foundation than a sponge would.

Here are the steps to use it-
Apply some foundation onto the brush.
Always start out with a little, less is more!!! .I like to start on the forehead and use criss cross motions ,then work my way down to the nose, cheeks, chin, and finally neck.Make sure its blended well especially in the corner of the nose and hairline .Its not really that hard and it looks flawless when your done.

Okay ladies stay tuned and tommorrow i will talk about more useful brushes!!

Steps for an easy ,fool proof smokey eye! :) IN ANY COLOR :)

Ok soo i asked you lovely ladies for some topics you would like me to blog about and it seems you all want to to know the steps on doing an easy smokey eye! This is the way i learned to do it at my makeup school and have used it since with great results!!

First you need to make sure you have these things before you start, these are things you all should have in your makeup kits!!! First thing you need is BRUSHES!!! Soon i will blog about all the brushes u should invest in,but today i just want to go over the ones for a smokey eye look.
A liner brush!! Perfect for liner but we are using it a bit different for this look.
All you ladies should have a good brush to blend eyeshadow.
I like to use this sponge tip brush also, sometimes when u buy an eyeshadow kit,it comes with  a small one,i feel they pick up more shadow and it can press it in really well onto the lid so you can see the color better.

For this look you will also need Q-tips!! Personally i use the dollarstore ones, the cheap ones work better because they have less cotton on them so they are easier to fix mistakes and blend edges.

You will also need a good BLACK CREAM LINER i recommend this one,but if you already have one im sure it will have the same effect. This is a QUO one i got a Shoppers Drug Mart for less than $10!!
And last but not least you will need an eyeshadow ! Any color, but lets say we use purple!A purple smokey eye is hot! :)Oh and a very light color to highlight would too!

A highlighter can be any very light color like the one above,to blend the eyeshadow and also is put under the brow bone to draw attention and light to that area!!

OKay so make sure you have all these things and tommorrow i will give you the steps to do the best  smokey eye ever!!
I will try to even make a video on it if i have time!

How to save money on beauty products

Well i know i just love to save money ,and still get good quality products that  we actually want to use.
So today i am going to share with you some of the ways i save money on makeup and beauty products!

1)Check out the Sale shelfs in stores!!
You know when your in Shoppers Drug Mart or Pharma Plus they always have a shelf of discounted products, that either didnt sell,or they need to get rid of to stock new inventory. Well i find AWESOME stuff thats like half price on these shelfs cause like no one looks at them ahah The other day i got this awesome tinted moisturizer from Physicians formula for only $3.00 !! I think it was regular almost $16.00 and i needed to buy it any way so i really saved!!

2)Shop at Discount and Liquidation stores.
Yes i have found some kick ass deals at these stores!! Last year i found Neostrata anti-aging moisturizer for about $4.00!! IT retails for over $20.00! And it worked really welll,i think the company just changed the packaging .I also love to buy hair care products at disount stores because they seem to have a lot of salon quality brands at super cheap prices!!

3)WINNERS! I love love love to shop the beauty section in winners,i find name brand beauty stuff there all the time at like half the cost sometimes! Sometimes thy dont have much, but other times i hit the jackpot and find some great bargains!

4)Look out for sales and discounts! That means reading flyers and sometimes waiting to buy things until they have a good sale, then stock up!! I love to get extra air miles or optimum points too, sometimes they give these and they can add up quickly to get stufff free!!

Ok well those are my tips for today ,if i learn some more i will be sure to share!!
IF you have any tips to help us save please leave your comments! :)

Lip Primers to the rescue or not? hehe

Soo like i told you today im going to talk about Lip Primers. You might ask ,do i really need one?
Well first what it does is its applied under your lipstick or lipliner or gloss to help make it last longer, reduce lip dryness, and create an even look to the colour.
This seems to be the best one around if you want to give it a whirl- URBAN DECAY LIP PRIMER POTION
This is what is said about it- keeps lip color from fading or feathering with SPF 15 This invisible primer lays a silky foundation for your favorite lipstick or gloss. You'll find color is truer, applies smoother, and lasts longer with this easy-glide formula that does not have the drying effect often associated with long-lasting lip color. What else you need to know:A roll-up tube and slanted bullet make for precise, easy application.
IT can be found at sephora for about $20.00 Might be a good investment if u wear lipstick a lot!

Now personally as a makeup artist i dont usually use a primer,i find that putting on a light neutral lip liner all over the lips before applying lipstick or gloss helps to give it a good base and makes the color stay on longer, also make sure you exfolliate your lips weekly just like you would your face they can get dry. Use an old toothbrush and gently brush off the dead skin. Also make sure to keep them moisturized with a good lip balm like this Lush lip balm,im currenlty using this and love the smell!!Im sure if you have been reading my blogs you know i love LUSH!:)Retails at LUSH for $6.95 and i find it last a long long time!

To prime or not to prime ,that is the question?

Primers, they can be your best friend if you choose the right one! There are foundation primers, eyeshadow primers, and even lash and lip primers!!But why do we need them and what exactly is there purpose??
Well first off lets talk about foundation primers,It creates a barrier between your skin & the foundation and helps the foundation go on smoothly. Some good ones even smooth out wrinkles !!Bascially they make your makeup stay "put"! You can go dancing all night long and not worry about about it coming off!

Soo here are some of the best ones you should give a try ,

This is the one that most makeup artists like myself use, because it really works well, you can purchase it any Sephora and i think that Shoppers drugmart now carries it also, they are starting to carry a lot more great makeup brands and i love that you get optimium points for shopping there.Cost about $36.00

Okay and for all those ladies who want to save some money and have oily to combo skin,i have a cheap alternate that actually works!! Now dont think im crazy but a lot of ladies use Monistat Anti-Chafing Gel as a Foundation Primer!! Yes it sounds very weird and i  have no idea who discovered this , but it works! Most of the ingredients are actually the same ingredients in regular primers sold in different makeup lines. As the anti -chafing gel is meant for skin already, it doesn't cause any problems applying it to the skin on the face.
At about 8.00 for a fairly large tube, it's a great deal!

Okay what about shadow primers? I hate when i get a crease in my shadow or it starts wearing off half way through the night!!Soo before u put on your shadow use these -

Too faced  -Shadow Insurance-
Your full-coverage insurance policy against all fading creasing melting blurring oil-slicked and hard-to-blend eye shadow accidents. Its silicone-based eyeshadow primer transforms any eye shadow into a perfectly blendable color-drenched intensified version of itself then locks it down perfectly until you take it off. Its skin soothing formula evens out the skin tone on your lids and smoothes out lines while it secures a barrier between the oils of your skin and your makeup so no shadow catastrophes will ever happen again. Cost about $18.00 at Shoppers.

A cheaper option that i use regulary is GOSH EYE SHADOW BASE is a silky soft, creamy base in stick form, which makes for easy application. Since it is extremely waterproof, it gives all forms of eye shadow a beautiful appearance and makes your favourite shadow last longer, making it perfect for eyes that easily tear up.
It has a high melting point so even under hot skies, the eye shadow remains perfect.!!

The creamy consistency is easy to apply to the eyelid and to tone out either with a finger or with an applicator/brush. Apply your favourite eye shadow on top. Blend the eye shadow into the GOSH Eye Shadow Base and your eye shadow will last the whole day. You can buy this at shoppers around $14.00.

Okay soo tommorrow i will talk about Lip  Primers!!STayy tuned :) Please leave comments about what primer you use or if you use any,i would love to hear!

Mineral makeup and my review of Clear Radiance

So i am sure by now we have all heard of or used Mineral makeup ,i just love it! Its much more natural and better for your skin.
When choosing  a good quality mineral makeup look for these key ingredients to be listed -Zinc oxide, mica, and titanium dioxide. If you see other things like filler or fragrance ,this is not pure minerals.

One of my fav companies at the moment is Bare Escentuals ,they make amazing prodcuts that are 100% pure blend of natural minerals. The product from them that i have using a lot lately is called Clear Radience.
What it is super pretty and natural looking blush or you could even call it a face shimmer. It gives your skin a soft, sheer luster that brings out your natural luminosity and takes years off your look.
I find it really does make your skin glow!Creates a noticeable effect with just a small sweep!
You can purchase it at any sephora store on there website www.sephora.com.

You can apply it with your fingers or use a brush,i have made a video about it and will post it soon!

Beauty on a Budget- Joe fresh Makeup

We all want to look like a million dollars, but why do we have to spend it? I came across some super makeup finds that are very affordable and work great!! I have had the chance to review quite a few of the products and will be doing some makeup tutorials very soon on how to use and apply them .

Soo first off i love love love the cream cheek tint and used it on my models when i was doing makeup this past weekend and it turned out just wonderful for $4.00 its sooo awesome!

Cream blush is good if u have dry skin ,but i find it also works great for my oily skin type. There is no need for a brush either jus take off a little on your finger and blend from cheeks up to ear area.It comes in 6 great colors too including berry, bronze, nude, cheery, peach and pink.I bought the peach one and find it can suit all skin types.

Another great find is the Lips Stains they are only $6.00 and give your lips a stain that last for hours! I do recommond putting a gloss on top though to give it some shine as it doesnt have any alone. It comes in 6 great colors ,i tried the sheer pink one and found it was good for lighter skin tones.

To get these products just head to the superstore ,and check out more on this site http://www.joe.ca/en/
