How safe is sunscreen? which ones are the best to use?

So i know sometimes i wonder is sunscreen safe? I know we hear that the sun is bad for us,and it ages it,but is putting on weird chemicals that are in sunscreen any better??

I did the research for you and this is what i found-the use of sunscreen chemicals may be increasing the incidence of cancer and that sunlight exposure may actually decrease human cancer rates and improve your health.
Hmm it makes you think doesnt it?read the full article here http://www.skinbiology.com/toxicsunscreens.html

So what it comes down to is we want to avoid those chemical sunscreens ingredients like -PBA,Benzophenones,Cinnamates ,and Salicylates.
and use ones with less or more natural options.I also advise the best advice is to avoid sun exposure for long periods of time whenever possible or cover up with clothes and hats.

But we all know sometimes thats not possible so im going to recommend the best options out there

Badger Sunscreen-http://www.badgerbalm.com/ -This one is really amazing! ITs waterproof,
safe for children of all ages, block both UVA and UVB rays, and thoroughly moisturize while they protect your skin. These natural, physical barrier sunscreens are made with zinc oxide instead of chemicals.
Contains -Active Ingredient: Micronized Zinc Oxide 20.5%
Other Ingredients: *Extra Virgin Olive Oil, *Golden Yellow Beeswax, *Jojoba Oil, *Cocoa Butter, *Wild African Shea Butter, CO2 Extract of *Seabuckthorn Berry, and Essential Oils of *Lavender, Moroccan Blue Tansy, *Ylang Ylang, Lime & *Sweet Orange.

and its even free shipping in canada! Retails $19.99 .but to me its worth it .

Another good choice is -Soleo Organics
A favorite among both celebrities and professional athletes, Soleo Organics’ sunscreen provides SPF 30 protection without the harsh chemical ingredients. Moisturizing, water resistant and safe for the whole family, the mineral-based formula fully protects with finely milled zinc oxide. Has no titanium dioxide, petrochemicals or artificial fragrances.
Contains only naturally sourced ingredients like: grapeseed oil, macadamia oil, green tea extract, roman chamomile extract, sunflower oil, beeswax, lecithin, vegetable oils, and cucumber extract.

You can buy it in canada at these two sites -www.lavishandlime.com  and http://www.saffronrouge.com/soleo-organics retails for a small from about $13.00 to a large about $32.00

So you should really consider trying these options.Does anyone have any good tips to help cover up or stay out of the sun? If so please comment :)

  1. I completely agree with you Amanda! I don't trust many of the products out there.

When Brian and I were in Aruba we met a couple who never used Sunscreen and said if it's not natural enough to ingest it, it shouldn't be applied on the face because it ends up being absorbed and injested anyways through your pores. Dr Oz said the same thing and I would rather spend more and used something I can read the ingredients in that slap on tons of smelly sunscreens. GREAT TOPIC THOUGH!

  3. Organic sunscreens are becoming more popular and the ingredients are better for the skin. Thanks for listing the websites where these products can be purchased.
