Supplements to take for Anti-Aging

I have always strongly believed that what we put in our body effects the way we look and feel.Having a healthy diet ,drinking lots of water and taking vitamins and supplements are a great way to get your skin glowing and ultimately feel better.

Why not make a new years resolution to start making more healthy changes? You could be using the best wrinkle cream ,but it will not work if you are eating unhealthy or missing vital vitamins your body need.

So take advantage of those great sales on at the drug store and stock up soon on the ones in this list-

1-Vitamin E-The main thing this vitamin does is protect the skin and other cell structures in your body from free radical damage. Some researchers believe that vitamin E is the most important of all the anti aging antioxidants – the master vitamin.
The vitamin is needed for proper functioning of the immune system and healthy red blood cells it is also proven in studies to help with the arteries, heart, cancer, arthritis, and even reduce cataracts.

Buying a supplement will give you the highest level but also the best food sources are: sunflower seeds (and oil), almonds, olive oil and olives, papaya, avocado and to a lesser degree – spinach and blueberries.(i am sitting here eating sunflower seeds as i type this hahaha)

Also remember a regular multi-vitamin does not contain enough vitamin e,usually only around 30UIs so it is wise to take it seperate at least another 100 to 400IUs per day to get the benefits.

here is a great article you can read to learn more of its anti-aging properties -

is one of the most important minerals for your health and for anti aging, sadly the foods we eat do not usually give us enough so taking a supplement is needed especially if you do not eat meat(as i do not )as that is where is mostly found like in fish and red meat.

Benefits of selenium come from the fact that the body uses it to make something called glutathione peroxidase. Glutathione peroxidase is a powerful antioxidant that protects your cells from oxidative stress, and prevents the DNA damage that can cause cancer.
It is recommended that adults take 400UIs per day.

Do you take any vitamins or supplements and why ??

My review of LANCOME Definicils Prescious Cells Mascara

So i always love to try out new mascaras and i have been hearing wonderful things about Lancome ,so it was finally time to see what all the hype was about .So we all want the look of eyelash extensions without actually having to go through the process of getting them right?

This is a Lengthening mascara and contains Swiss apple extract. It helps to condition lashes so they are much stronger and healthier, meaning you have a fuller fringe. And you didn't even have to put on an additional product to get it.So it is not simply just a mascara but is also helping fortify ,so to me its a two in one product.

This is what the packaging and wand  look like- I do like how the wand feels and it gets right into the roots of my lashes quite well.

So here is a picture of my lashes before applying

And here they are after applying 2 coats-

So i must say i really do like this mascara ,it really gives me the length i want ,but it does not do as much for volume. But what i usually look for in a mascara is to lengthen,so it is perfect for me.I also love the fact that it does not CLUMP a major plus indeed. The only thing negative i can say about this is the price, its about $23 or so ,so a bit more, but i try to buy when they have there events and you get lots of freebies at The Bay and Sears counter .

(What i might try next time is just add a coat of another brand of volume adding mascara and i think i will have found the perfect mix .)

Have you tried this mascara yet?? Do you like Lancome products?

Ps are you ready for christmas yet? I still have some things to get i am so last minute hahaa

Stila Cosmetics just in time for the holidays

Since the holiday is just around the corner i would like to mention some great gift ideas for all the lucky ladies on your list.
Lately i have really been loving STILA COSMETICS ,they are popping up everywhere now ,from Sephora to The shopping Channel  or check them out on there site -

I want to show you just a few of items from them would make the perfect presents.

This color wheel eye shadow palette is so FANTASTIC and only $38.00 for all those colors!! WOW almost seems to good to be true.

What i like about this palette is well it is easy to travel with ,just throw it in your bag and it has endless possible color combos for your eyes and also comes with a brush.
Plus all these shadows can be worn WET or DRY ,do it wet for a more intense look.An extra bonus it also comes with a Look book with 12 different looks you can experiment with.
This is a must buy not just for your friends but grab yourself one too and never get bored with your eye makeup.

I have to say i am a sucker for two in one products and this is one of the best ones out there i have found  ,raspberry crush lip & cheek stain

It really does look good on your cheeks and lips. The reason is it is infused with naturally staining raspberry extracts, this sweetly-scented wonder reacts to your personal pH levels to create your perfect vibrant pink shade every time.It has just a hint that shimmer too that looks amazing this time of year when you have that holiday party to attend. This retails about $24.00 (but is well worth it cause its like your getting two products)

And last but not least JADE BLOSSOM HAIR REFRESHER-

Sometimes i have so much on my agenda the last thing i want to do is worry about washing my hair,so i adore hair refreshers. This one smells heavenly, like fresh flowers. It is an oil-absorbing powder infused with soft fragrance and green tea. As the powder reaches your roots, it adds much-needed volume without weighing hair down.I like to use it in between shampoos to freshen up .Retails about $28.00
Also want to add with this a little goes a long way so one bottle can last at least 6 months.

Have you started your holiday shopping ? Will you being buying beauty products as gifts? Let me know and if you have any other good gift ideas.

What to save money on and what to spend it on with beauty products

I know i LOVE to save money, but sometimes you just need to spend a bit more to get a quality product that will work . Today i will tell you what to save on and what to spend on with your beauty products.

1) CLEANSER -you can pretty much buy the cheaper version or store brand,as long as it is the right kind for your skin type(example if you have dry skin go for a cream and if you have oily go for a gel).
The reason why you don't need to spend a lot on this is because you are just washing it off anyway,as long as it does its job and cleanses the skin ,buy whatever is on SALE :)
I like to buy mine from the discount shelf in superstore,i usually find a great one like half price and truthfully cleanser never really expires.
Personally i am using this one -Clean and Clear morning burst cleanser and it cost about $5.00 and it is working great for me -

2) MASCARA- There are TONS of great mascara you can get for less than $10.00!! Do not waste your money on ones that vibrate or are more than $30.00 they are pretty much the same formula as the cheaper ones . Plus since you have to replace them every 3 months do not spend to much.

Personally i love this L;oreal Double extend -i find putting on the white first helps to thicken and lengthen my lashes ! another tip if you MIX two different kinds they work together to get a better result than just one! TRY it put one coat of one brand and another coat another (doesnt matter what )and see how great it looks!

1)Invest in a GOOD anti-aging skin cream usually the ones that cost a bit more do work better as they have more quality ingredients and higher concentrations of them, the super cheap ones are super cheap for a reason they do not work ! Treat yourself to not the most expensive one but not the cheapest either. We all want great looking skin for as long as possible and this is a good way to help maintain.ALWAYS wear it at night too because this is the time our body regenerates and it actually works better . Also a lot of GOOD creams can also be used around the eye area so skip the eye cream and use it for both.
PS-its never to early to start anti-aging,its all about PREVENTING wrinkles, start at about age 25.ITs much easier to PREVENT then deal with it once its there hehehehe

Try this its about $20-30 and you will see good results -
high concentration of amino-peptide complex and marine proteins to effectively fight signs of aging and restore skin’s elasticity.Olay Regenerist Micro-sculpting cream-

Ok those are just a few things i will post more after i get back from vacation :)
Do you have any products you like to save on that work just as good ??? LET ME KNOW!!

What beauty products to pack when going on vacation???

Hey ladies!! So i booked a fantastic trip to MONTEGO BAY ,JAMAICA! I am super excited and will be leaving in just a few weeks ,so i figured it might be a good idea to figure out what I need to bring with me ,i still want to look nice when i am out on the beach having dinner . So today i will write about the essentials to pack when heading away on a tropical vacation.

*****Also when packing i suggest putting all liquid products in a ZIP LOCK bag so in case they get broken they will not wreck everything in your luggage. Also anything that can shatter like eyeshadow.********

Well we all know the number one thing we better bring is-

1) SUNBLOCK,you can see my past post i did on how safe they are and the ones i recommend-
sun protection
.Also i do prefer the OIL FREE ones and it nice to have one you can spray on so its quick and easy .

2) TINTED MOISTURIZER or a LIGHTWEIGHT FOUNDATION and POWDER- The reason i suggest a tinted moisturizer is it is quick to apply and gives you a natural look and helps to hydrate.

3)BLOTTING PAPERS-they help to absorb oil and shine ,read about the ones i like best here-oil blotting papers

4)A good BLUSH/BRONZER in one like- CARGO beach blush

5)EYESHADOW-ITs probably a good idea to bring just one of your fav palettes the colors you like most.(also a waterproof eyeliner may be a good idea if you like to wear it)

6)WATERPROOF MASCARA! -This is a must so your lashes always look great and you dont have raccoon eyes.

7)BRUSHES -Bring a few key brushes like blush brush, powder brush and a great shadow brush.

8)FACIAL WIPES or BABY WIPES-Are excellent to wipe off your makeup at the end of the night quickly, cause you don't want to waste anytime on your holiday.

9) Leave in CONDITIONER or a good one you can leave in your hair while at the beach that has a sunscreen in it. We tend to forget our hair gets sun too ,so applying one that protects it is a great idea ,or wear a hat when you can.

10)LIP GLOSS OR BALM with SUNSCREEN- Yes our lips can burn so protect them while making them look nice, this is an ESSENTIAL.

So you want your makeup to be light and simple and fun ,and do not OVERPACK ,bring what you will use and need ,thats it.
One more thing i like to bring some aftersun or ALOE in case of a burn and also bug spray for at night cause you never know .

Well now i have my list made and i can start packing soon!!

Can you add any other items you like to take when you vacation ,or have any tips when packing?

Best EYELASH glues :)

Soo when i first started this blog i did a post on good eyelashes to use,but i think also what makes the false eyelashes look good is using the BEST glue!!! I know with the holidays coming and parties you should all rock some hot lashes!!

Why choose a better quality glue? Because then it will be easier to put on,not come off and most important it will not irrate your eyes.

So here are what i think are the  best lash adhesive's -

1) This is the best out there -Duo Eyelash Glue in BLACK-The reason i say pick it in black is because with most eye designs you will have black eyeliner on and this blends flawlessly to achieve a great look! But it also comes in clear, which is a good option for simple looks or if your hand is not to steady.
You can buy this one at MAC and it is also WATERPROOF and is the only brand that attains the medical standard for false eyelash glue.

2) Ardell Waterproof Lash Grip Eyelash Adhesive -You can pick this up at most drug stores and some of the lashes you buy it will come inside the package .This is also WATERPROOF ,it most commonly comes in a clear format .It comes out white but dries as clear which is good.I find this one applies rather nice and dries quickly.I also find that when it is time to take off your lashes this one comes off very easy and does not bother my eyes at all.

And last but not least a new one i just picked up and have been using is this -
3)Revlon Precision Lash Adhesive-IT cane be picked up at Walmart,it dries clear,is waterproof and latex free and the best thing about it is its MESS FREE! Because it comes with a very thin tipped brush ,all you need to do is brush it on the lashes and your good to go!So for first time users this one is soooo easy to use!!

So i want to see you all looking fantastic this holiday season in your flirty lashes ladies! :)

Ps- DO any of you have any other glues you like to use ???

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!! Next post will be back to beauty products and makeup reviews :)

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

So a few friends said they would love to know more about how to do ZOMBIE makeup! Im a huge fan of zombies and will be attending the annual Zombie Walk in Toronto this weekend!! I also love horror movies and anything GORY:)

So this it part one because it is just to much to write in one entry. So today i will talk about BLOOD! Which is essential to have when being a zombie!!!

You can make your own blood which i will give you give you some recipes and tell you the store bought one that i just LOVE! I just recently used it at a photo shoot, and it really looked REAL!!!

You can buy this one at most stores for under $5.00

Now this blood will most likely stain your clothes so use old clothes and apply it at least 24 hours before so its fully dried when you want to wear it and it does not get on everything else. But when applying it to your face do it right before you go out so it looks fresh!! Unless you are going for the dried up look .

But if you would like to make it yourself try one of these recipes-

Simple Fake Blood
  • Clear Corn Syrup
  • Red Food Coloring
  • Milk - Optional
However much fake blood is how much corn syrup you'll need. Pour it into a bowl and mix in some red food coloring. Add some blue if you like. Adding a small amount of milk will make the blood appear darker and thicker.

or this one -

Realistic Recipe
  • 2/3 c. Corn Syrup
  • 1/3 c. Warm Water
  • 5 Tbsp Corn Starch
  • 4 tsp red food coloring
  • 1 Tbsp Powdered Cocoa
  • 2 drops of green or yellow food coloring
Mix the corn starch with the water in a large mixing bowl. Stir in the corn syrup. Add the food coloring slowly, checking for color.

or even one of these -

Cheap 'N' Easy Blood
This is good for spidering:
  • Plain Flour
  • Water
  • Red Food Coloring
  • 1 tsp. of Coffee
Boil the water on the stove, then sieve in the flour, making sure you get ALL of the lumps out. The quantity of ingredients aren't important, it just depends on how much you want. Once you have the flour mixed nicely into the water it should look nice and thick. Next, add the red food coloring.
You will notice that it's a ghastly, bright red colour but don't worry this is why we add the coffee. It is important that when you add the coffee to make sure the mixture is hot, otherwise it wont dissolve, but up until adding the coffee can be done in a ordinary mixing jug or pan.

Palmolive Imitation Blood
You can also make fake blood with Palmolive dish soap, (it doesn't matter how much you put in) it depends on how much blood you want! Add red berry powdered Kool-Aid!

Ok now that we have the blood covered ,in my next blog i will go over how to apply it and how to to the face makeup !!!

Here is a picture of zombie makeup i did on my awesome boyfriend last year -
This was really easy!! But this year i want to try some more special effects like a knife in the head and more gore!!!!

STAY TUNED!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

KIBIO ,more organic than organic (an awesome new organic skincare line)

Have you heard of or tried KIBIO organic skin care line ? It is a fantastic line from the UK that recently is being sold in SHOPPERS DRUG MART. Here is there website

So what makes this line better than any other organic line ???
The formulas contain at least 95% active ingredients, including a vital proportion of organic ingredients, way over the minimal levels fixed by the labels.
All these ingredients are active ones. This explains the products’ effectiveness .
• Floral waters (hydrolates): laden with active principles, they are obtained through the distillation of plants and flowers.
• Vegetal oils: produced from seeds and fruits, very rich in active principles, they have great affinity with the skin’s metabolism.
• Essential oils, natural extracts, rigorously selected for their properties.
Kibio, the guarantee of products certified by the ECOCERT label.
Safety, effective and pleasure for visible, lasting results»

So i purchased this -

I have to say its damn amazing lip balm!! My fav so far,it has a great taste(orange) and texture and glides on so easy ,but yet its not sticky. I like to apply it to my models before i use lipstick so the lips are hydrated.

If you care about what you put into your body and on your skin this is an amazing organic line to give a try. They also carry a baby products line.

Remember they carry NO SILICONES ,NO MINERAL OIL ,no synthetic color or perfumes,no animals products ,no parabens and no animals testing :)

Do you use organic ??

GOSH !!! :)

Have you heard about or tried GOSH COSMETICS from Shoppers Drug Mart yet? Well i have and i just love them!! They have an amazing line ,it came out in 2008 and they just even expanded into hair color!!They have everything from Liquid eyeliner to face primer.
See more products here-gosh

The latest product i tried from QUO was -  ON STAGE COOLING LIP BALM
The color is Translucent Blue and when you put it on it cools and tingles your lips! I love the sensation! The color does not really look blue when its on but more a super shiny ,sparkle filled look .It also tastes kind of  minty(because its the menthol that gives you the cooling) but fruity if that makes sense ehhe

I think it makes my lips look super sexy and shiny and i just love this gloss! It will be a staple in my purse.
It comes in about 8 different shades so get to shoppers and get some now. They always have bonus optimuim points going on too, which is super rad :)

Will you try QUO?Or have you ,let me know what else is good .

More Elf Reviews!!

Ok so i got around to trying out some more the products i got and this one i was not happy with at all :(

e.l.f. Essentials Eye Shadow Palette Limited Edition

So it kind of breaks up when i try to put it on and the colors barely even show up on my eyes.So DO NOT ORDER THIS EYE PALLETTE ahah you have been warned. ITs not worth the $3.00 at all.

And the cream eyeliner is not the best either :( I prefer the maybelline eye studio one much better,it does cost more ,but sometimes its worth the price.

This one is much harder to apply and does not stick well. And the brush is not as good either.

More reviews to come, and not all bad either ehhe

Ok time to get to work :)

Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation review

Soo you all know i love using mineral products so i decided to give Maybellines a try.It is a great price from $11-$15 at most stores.

I like the container it comes it, it makes it very easy to squirt some out onto my foundation brush. It feels very light on my skin and blends easily. The coverage is about medium ,it will not cover blemishes ,but thats what a good concealer will do .
I have even used this on clients and they told me it does not even feel like they are wearing makeup.

This is what the website says about it-
  • Results clinically proven after 8 weeks*: 51% improvement in skin smoothness; 33% improvement in skin luminosity; 17% improvement in hydration
  • Lightweight, buildable coverage
  • Provides 8 hours of hydration
  • Tested on sensitive skin
  • Will not clog pores
  • Contains 0% oil, 0% talc and 0% fragrance
  • SPF 18
I like that its a good price and does not have all those harsh chemicals in it. Next time you need a new foundation give this one a try .

Have you jumped on the band wagon and started using mineral makeup yet?

Ps its my birthday tommorrow heeh :)

Maybelline Eye Studio Gel liner Review

Soo i totally love eye liner and what is better than a GEL EYELINER! I picked up this fantastic one from MAYBELLINE the other day and its super awesome. I got the brown one ,but it does come in other colors like black ,plum and grey.
It also comes with a cute little brush that works just great. Its very easy to use and you can make precise lines with it.I think its way better than using a pencil as you can get real close to the lash line with it.

Its suppose to last for 24 hours, which is also a bonus .So far so good i wear it all day and it still looks great when i go to wash it off.It retails at Walmart for about $8.00
Here is how it looked like on,just at thin line
And a thicker one for fun

Have you ever tried gel liner?? Will you know?? ;)

TUCA TUCA :) mmmm violet fragrance

If you have been reading my blog for awhile you will then know that i truly love LUSH cosmetics.Well in case you have not heard they are having a new contest,
i think i might even make a video and enter!!Its for there new product TUCA TUCA which is an awesome new fragrance!
I already wear and love there Karma so i know i will love this one too

Flirtatious, vivacious and seductive; Tuca Tuca has taken the LUSH world by storm with its playful sex appeal. Mark (co-founder of LUSH) had been trying for years to create the perfect violet fragrance, but as soon as he heard the catchy Italian pop song “Tuca Tuca” in Venice, the perfume was born! With spicy sandalwood, smoky vetivert and vanilla for just a hint of warmth- Tuca Tuca is fresh, sensual and demands attention!

It also comes in a massage bar!!
Tuca Tuca in Italian means ‘touch, touch’ so we thought it seemed almost absurd not to have a Tuca Tuca massage bar to get people touching each other! We blend seductive violet absolute with fresh rose petal infused cocoa butter and a hint of vanilla for a gorgeous floral bar that will put you in the mood to massage. This scent is all about being playful so have fun with it-grab the bar, dim the lights and tuca tuca!

If you have not yet tried lush perfume, totally go check this one out.

Are you a lush fan like me?
